Why the name Mole House?
Well, in 1908, English author Kenneth Grahame wrote the classic children's book, THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS. Grahame, born in Edinburgh in 1859, based his book on bedtime stories and letters to his son, not originally intending them for publication. In it, Grahame created the characters Rat, Badger, Mole and Toad. The Mole House Bed and Breakfast is dedicated to Grahame's imaginary creature, "Mole".
